Nurse Practitioners

Mrs Claire Webber (f)
Clare Webber - Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Peartree Surgery and West Horndon Surgery

Claire will be working closely with the GPs to manage acute and chronic conditions. Her duties involve:
- Undertake a comprehensive and sophisticated physical and/or mental health assessment of patients with complex multiple healthcare needs and/or in crisis.
- Interpret the results of multiple different assessments and investigations in order to make a diagnosis, and plan and
deliver care.
- Confidently and competently make ethical, evidence based decisions and interventions when faced with complexity and assess and manage the risk associated with these decisions.
- Utilise therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy when working with patients with mental health conditions either in isolation or associated with a physical long-term condition.
- Prescribe and work with individuals to manage their medicines.
- Work independently but also as part of a multi-disciplinary team and exercise values based leadership.
- Plan and provide skilled and competent care to meet a patient's health and social care needs involving or referring on to other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.

Practice Nurse

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma, COPD or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and they carry out cervical smears.

She also gives travel vaccinations and Yellow Fever vaccinations; if you are planning to go on holiday please fill out the travel information form before making an appointment to be seen, this is available on this web site.

The Nurse will also give injections for seasonal flu and pneumonia, B12 injections, and childhood immunisations.

Healthcare Assistants

Sharon Hiley - Health Care Assistant - Peartree Surgery and West Horndon Surgery

Health Care Assistants are primarily to assist the Practice Nurse. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. They can also assist the practice nurses with clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma, COPD or diabetes, minor ailment clinics. She cannot prescribe medication.

The HCA will also give injections for seasonal flu and pneumonia, and B12 injections.

Practice Management

Ms Dawn Mainhood (f)

The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the daily business aspects of both practices such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The Practice Manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Rachel Spall (f)

The practice secretary deals with all patient referrals between hospitals and GP's, either through Choose & Book or privately, she is able to provide a link between the hospital and the patient in cases of missed appointments, or requests for further information. She is also able to refer patients for a variety of scans through specialised centers. The secretary also supports the GP's and Practice Manager in administration of the practice.

Jackie Smith (f) - Administration

The administration secretary deals with all summarising of patient notes, registration and removal of new and old patients, accounts and order of equipment for the practice. She also covers for the Secretary on annual leave.

Carol Kiely (f)- Administration

Carol's main duties are concerned with administration She is able to use System one, therefore can fulfil Reception and Administration.


Dispensary - Cheryl Robson (f), Dawn Delaforce (f), Victoria Smith (f) and Roxana Rusu (f) at South Ockendon

The dispensary issues all patient repeat prescription medication. They deal with prescription enquiries and liaise with District Nurses and Community Services regarding medication of housebound and terminally ill patients. They also provide a dispensing facility for patients over 3 miles away.

Trevor Zucconi (m), Dawn Delaforce (f), Roxana Rusu (f) and Michelle Debenham (f) at West Horndon

West Horndon is a dispensing practice, patients can pick up their medication directly from the surgery. They also deal with enquiries and other medical professionals queries.
